I just mean they tend to take a really horrible situation like this and exploit it for the sake of ratings. Half the time they don't even know what's really happening, but they still report the news like it's concrete fact. It's like sculpey said, CNN is everywhere, yet somehow we can't get supplies to those in need. Well then, how about some of these news crews and reporteres put down the microphone for a second and lend a hand since they have all this unlimited access to the needy and dying...

Drau, I get the timeline confused, but I think they let people back. Then the levees broke.

On the NBC news tonight they're reporting from Metarie becuse they elected not to remain in New Orleans because of the conditions there.

One weird thing was that the police have to loot food and water too to remain on patrol.

to be a reporter with a helicopter pilot probably not trained in rescue flying trying to pick up people or carry out a task youre not trained for and, trying to rescue paniced people, is asking for another smaller disaster.

Now I did see where a reporter was picking people up in a boat, but come on, you cant attempt a rescue in a bird unless you know what youre doing.

and I hate reporters and news, more than you can imagine, but we have to have some info on whats going on with this. right now it doesnt make sense it would be for ratings as everyone is covering it.

I'm more upset about the people that are in need, raping, robbing, looting and killing each other in their own place.

as far as rescue services and such. Come on, this is a major disaster and you can NEVER really plan what will go on in a disaster, no mater how much you practice. You have to imagine everything is stretched to the max. Hell all the services in those towns are destroyed themselves. cant rescue when you need rescued. They can only do so many things in so many places at a time.

If you want to place blame and are a religious person, mayber theres another place to lay blame? just food for thought. not meant to offend

its a shame, but media has to be there to let the world have information. If there was no coverage on disasters and other situations, just think how ignorant we would all be about the goings on

Reality check. NBC had there cameraman that took the amazing photos at the convention center on the news just now. He was basically in tears telling how he watched at least two infants die of dehydration today.

Then the head of FEMA was on saying 'those people were fed this morning and we're feeding them tonight.'

    Who's lying?

another reporter was talking about flying over an area where there was street sticking out of water. people were placing bodies there. He said one man was laying there having and seizure and dying unable to get help due to where they were. he talked about how horrible helpless he felt not being able to do anything.

they might be story hungry reporters normally, but they're people also and this has to devestate those that are reporting it also

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm not religious, so I don't get what you mean. All I was saying is that there's an awful lot of news coverage on this subject, but it doesn't seem like there's enough being done to help. And I do think the news sensationalizes stuff like this, otherwise why would they need all these bold graphics and thunderous 'doom-like' music every time they run a story about it?

the media is the worst part.... you don't know how much they are sensationalizing, it's all money to them... I'm surprised they haven't thrown some Led Zepplin samples in with their flashy graphics and cool tag lines...

this is going to have to be explained to me. like I said I usually hate the news and whatever. How can the videos of the shit I'm seeing being more than what they are? they say bodies are in the water, I see bodies in the water (I dont think theyre stunt bodies) they say looting is rampant, they show people looting and a cop shoving a shotgun in a guys face. they say there is massive damage and they show destruction that looks like hell. People are stranded....they're on roof tops and pieces of wood floating around. Rapes and fights in the Dome?....they show two witnesses to two teenage girls that got raped. they show tape of fight inside the dome. So other than maybe some dumbass music and titles are they making more out of. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I just dont see whats wrong with them reporting this. I havent seen anyone taking credit for anything. no ones saying "you see it only here". I have seen a couple of reporters that were really down from the disasters. one talked about a guy dying and seemed really shaken up by it. I'm the most cynical guy in the world, but AT THIS POINT, it didnt seemed like they were over the top....unless I'm too shocked from it all I dont see it.

please dont take this as an attack, I just want to understand. Munnkey talked about the music and titles and I get that, but what else?

to me it's the delivery of the information, all the crap with the dramatic pauses, the implied "i told you so's" and other snide remarks and the general stupidy of trying to play up drama about a situation like this... maybe i'm too cynical, but i fucking hate all that shit.
